I have been in the music scene since 1981, I got my first job in a local country band playing lead guitar.Things started going good in 85' when I began working with a pro touring band that played all around Great Britian & Europe. From then I had a great career that lasted for the next 15 years. I came to the United States in 2000, bringing my Irish traditional and folk roots in music with me, playing pubs and clubs in East Bay with several Irish musicians.I am still playing Celtic music to this day with a band called 'Bracken'. You can check us out at our website www.dragonsdance.net 'The Gabe Duffin Band' formed in an unusual way.Steve Neef, and Dave Cargo where both guitar students of mine, so I encouraged Steve to learn bass, and he said"ok". We worked on various classic rock tunes with Dave on guitar, Steve on bass, and myself playing lead. We built up around 30 songs, and I added drum tracks to help us along. The music got tight, and we then experimented playing in public at our local coffee shop. After a few successful gigs, we hire in a drummer, Scott Mitchell. He is no longer a member of the band, but he still likes to play with us when we need a stand in.We still respect Scott's contribution as an original band member.Steve introduced me to Jim, our singer. He came along to practice one evening, and got hired straight away. I noticed his vocal ability from the get go. And finally the last piece was our keyboard player Ruben.Placing an add in Craiglist, we got a response pretty fast.He fitted right in, adding sweet touches with the keys and a third harmony. Our latest member is Paul, our new drummer. After auditioning several guys in one week, we found one drummer that stood out among them all. Also we found a stand in keyboardist, named John Honig. You will see him play with us every now and then.
Gabe can play anything, given a little time and enough Guinness Stout.
